First of all don't use labels. Why do you all of a sudden want to change yourself. Besides everyone is going to see you're a poser if you need advice to act a certain way. Just be yourself. It's a lot easier.... Billy Boy In Poison, Breaking Benjamin, Quietdrive,The Offspring, Taking Back Sunday, Sugarcult, From First To Last, FOB, Panic! at the Disco. I've got long black hair and serious bangs. I don't like Hot Topic bc now just about everyone goes there.

I don't understand how a style of music (emo) has generated labels and a subculture to our society. This is crazy.

emos are the biggest comformists there are. Why don't you just try being yourself?

Unless you want to be called a poser, do not say My chemical romance, AFI, or 30 seconds to mars are emo.

They aren't.

If you want to change you looks, buy some eyeliner, some vans shoes (usually black, tan, or checkered), a black jacket. Maybe get a pierced lip.

Hair doesn't doesn't need to be black, but most haircuts are the same. Long bangs on one side, usually the left. Black nail polish is also part of the look.

Emo is actually a type of music, not a label for people. But according to the look of "emo" that's the description.
