you know the bands--Poison, Cinderella, Motley Crue, Extreme, Great White, Warrant, etc. What an era devoid of talent and substance, an era of style over musical talent. Wasn't it great when bands like Metallica, G and R and then later grunge cleared that crap out for good?

ditto....those bands were really gay(in retrospect)....thank god thats over now....but the post modern (school) punk era is also heading there (at least lyrically).....listen to Blink182 or Shinobi for instance....started out as good bands....now they are churning out s**t....

I think a lot of good music cameout of that era,.. and lets not forget the spillover into the 80's and all of the other music it influenced,... I wonder where bands like metallica and G n R dprouted up from,... they certainly had influence from bands in that era,... at leas tin those days,. people didn't sell out like no ones buisness and do what MTV told them too...

are you stupid?that was a great time for music.nirvana killed rock music.metal was some of the best music made.van halen was the best band in the 80s.rob halford had the best voice.listen to some iron maiden or motley crue,preist,motorhead,kiss.all freaking great.1000 times better than the crap today.stop watching american idol and listen to some real music.

The music wasn't bad, people just looked stupid. Too much makeup, too much hair, too many perms. But if you looked past all that nonsense and heard the music, It wasn't bad.

Glam rock and hair metal, yes. But I will agree with some of the other users on here that the era did create some great music as well.

Skid Row and Van Halen for example, are of the better bands I've heard. I agree with your statement about G n' R %26amp; Metallica cleaning all the mess up. But Guns and Roses, Metallica were making music at the same time as the crappy bands. I don't wanna open up a can of worms here, so I'll just make this the last sentence.
